 Australia
Each Australian state has its own educational system;
educators choose the state in which they wish to exchange.
As well, there is a large private school system with
whom we also work.
Australian exchanges usually take place during their
school year (approx. February 1 until the Christmas Break).
Canadian secondary school teachers in semestered schools
exchange at the end of the first semester. In unsemestered
schools, the exchange would begin either at the beginning
of January or at a mutually agreed upon time in January.
In elementary schools, the incoming Australian teacher
takes over a class on the first day of school in January.
The Canadian teacher begins in Australia about February
1.
Occasionally an exchange to Australia can be arranged
on our school year.
